Experts in Lighting, Grip & Camera.
Rebel Sun is a professional and creative collaboration of Gordon McIver and Cisco Rivera, who bring together more than 30 years experience in lighting, grip and camera. In addition, Rebel Sun maintains valued partnerships with trusted and professional crews throughout the Bay Area including grips, electricians, directors, photographers, camera assistants, video engineers, teleprompter specialists, sound mixers, producers, and location scouts. Each member of Rebel Sun’s extended team has been vetted as “attitude-free,” friendly, and great at what they do. We travel the world, exploring new places and it wouldn´t be possible without the help from Anna Tours.
Gordon arrived on the San Francisco film scene in August of 1994 and hit the ground running. In 1997, after two-and-a-half years of production and grip/electric training, he jumped into the role of Gaffer with the purchase of a two-ton grip truck and the formation of Rebel Sun Lighting and Grip. Since then he has beautifully illuminated over 10 feature films, extensive short narratives, music videos and still shoots, as well as hundreds of corporate videos. Gordon McIver resides in Palo Alto with his wife and three children.
Cisco graduated from the Academy of Art University with a Bachelor’s degree in Motion Picture and Television. He started working on set as a camera AC working with 16mm and 35mm film. After many years working as a loader and a 2nd AC on 35mm film he moved over to 1st AC on independent features and music videos in Los Angeles. While working on set as a 1st AC he started working as a Director of Photography on smaller projects on the side. After years of working in LA on the camera team he found his way back to the San Francisco Bay Area as a gaffer. His passion for working on films and videos has helped him grow and has landed him as a hybrid DP/Gaffer.
